M is for Mother Is an installation that will be exhibited the month of May of 2014 at iGalleryKathy Clem by appointment only. The opening reception will be May 2, from 5-8 pm, this will be free and open to the public.
My first consideration for this exhibit is the overall installation of the work. All the work must go together. This is why the overall color of the installation will be many shades of white and brown (sepia).
I am working on 10 different collage boxes, a 20 foot wall of white doves on very thin paper, the alphabet letter M (7 feet X 12 feet), and an iPad display of a sound sculpture.
Seven of the collage boxes will show memories from my mother, the other three boxes are of my grandmothers and one of my great-grandmother. I made the boxes of foam board. The outside of the boxes are lined with beautiful decorative white papers. The inside of the boxes will be collages of old photographs and small memory objects. The colors for the inside of the boxes will be various tones of sepia.
I need to have images for publicity by January 30. That means that the majority of the boxes must be finished by January 1, and then I will need to photograph these.
Lots of work to do, but all is going well and I am having a great time.
